Munros started out as Ian Munro (Dorking) which was first established in 1956 by Jock Munro and named after his son Ian, sadly both deceased. The present owner John Pratt joined Ian Munro in 1970, specialising in made-to-measure clothing, thus achieving a wealth of knowledge during the following years. A Surrey man born and bred John has an interest in Country Activities, which has brought a style both eclectic and individual to the buying of stock. Personal advice and styling is available to all customers, to help them achieve their desirable appearance for business, occasional and casual wear. John’s wife, Jane, joined the firm in 2001, adding her input to buying and styling, using her family background in the menswear trade after her brother owned several menswear shops in the 1970’s.

In January 2015 John made the decision to retire and moved to Birkenhead to be closer to family. However a few months of relaxation was enough for him and he decided to open an new shop under the name “Munros”. After several months of hard work the store, opening in the old Pykes Jewellery shop, was ready. The new manager joining the team is Miriam Hamilton who brings four years experience with another well-known menswear brand.
